LK Students Short Film Festival
Lets young minds spread the wings to cinematic universe

The LK Students' Short Film Festival is a unique initiative to discover and nurture young filmmaking talent in Kerala. Open to students aged 10 to 18, it provides an international platform where creativity, storytelling, and technical excellence take center stage. By fostering mentorship and recognition, the festival encourages young minds to explore visual storytelling and share their unique perspectives. More than just a competition, the festival is a movement aimed at empowering young storytellers and strengthening student film culture in India and beyond. The LK Foundation envisions creating a thriving network of budding filmmakers who will contribute to the world of cinema. The festival invites student-made short films from 2023 and 2024, with complete creative freedom across themes and genres. Films should be 5 to 10 minutes long, and silent films are welcome. The top 25 films receive special awards, with all participants honored with certificates and mementos.

Major awards include cash prizes, with 10,000 for Best Short Film and 5,000 each for Best Director, Actor, Actress, Scriptwriter, and Cinematographer. A distinguished five-member jury, led by acclaimed Malayalam director Sundar Das as Jury Chairman, evaluates films through a two-step process. The Preliminary Review screens all entries, while the Final Selection assesses originality, storytelling, direction, acting, cinematography, and technical execution. The Grand Award Ceremony in April 2025 in Kochi will showcase the best films and honor winners in the presence of film industry professionals, media, and cultural icons. This prestigious event celebrates young talent, providing students with networking opportunities and industry recognition

Submissions are accepted via the LK Film Festival website through schools or by parents/guardians, with a nominal 1000 entry fee. The festival, an initiative by the LK Foundation, is a stepping stone for aspiring filmmakers, offering them a platform to showcase their talent, gain visibility, and take their first steps into the world of cinema.
