With guidance from renowned Malayalam film director Sri Kamal, students gain insights into scriptwriting, direction, cinematography, editing, and more. The program culminates in a workshop at Chithranjali Studio, Thiruvananthapuram, where learners will create their own short films. Students will also have the chance to showcase their work at a grand convocation ceremony. The course is flexible, allowing working professionals to join and learn at their own pace. Upon completion, students receive a UGC-approved certificate to kickstart their careers in film.

Course overview

The Certificate in Film Direction and Scriptwriting is a UGC-approved program designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of filmmaking. The course combines both theory and practical sessions, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience. The theory sessions are conducted online via Zoom, with classes held daily for 1.5 hours from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, including 1 hour of instruction and 30 minutes of interactive discussion.

In addition to the online learning, students will participate in a 10-day hands-on workshop, conducted from morning to evening, at the end of the course. This workshop is guided by industry experts from the Malayalam film industry, providing valuable practical exposure. Study materials will be provided in hard copy by Global Academy, and the course concludes with a computer-based objective examination. Academic support is provided by Global Academy, while LK Productions International handles the practical and technical aspects of the course.

  • Creative Role of a Director: Vision, idea formation, and expression in cinema; understanding process and value system.
  • Director’s Functions: From idea to script, pre-production, production, and post production; the director as the organizer and creative decision-maker.
  • Cinematic Art Forms: Forming ideas through image, sound, time, and space; exploration of Mis-en-scene and montage.
