  • Short films are invited from Kerala.
  • Short films of any category are welcome, including silent films, experimental films, documentary films, sci-fi films, and more.
  • Films should be between 5 minutes and 30 minutes in duration.
  • Any theme is acceptable for submission.
  • The 5-member jury board will be chaired by renowned film director Kamal.
  • The last date for submission is 20th January 2025.
  • A registration fee of ₹2000/- is applicable for each short film entry
  • Awards in various categories will be presented at an award ceremony in April 2025.
  • The award ceremony will take place at Gokulam convention centre, Kochi.
  • To ensure a smooth submission process, please include a link to your short film on the submission form. You have two options for sharing your film:

  • Google Drive link  :  Share a link to your film directly from Google Drive.
  • YouTube link  :   Upload your film to YouTube and set the video to "unlisted". Then, share the link on the submission form.
  • Best Short Film wins an exciting prize of Rs. 25,000
  • Best Director wins an prize of Rs. 10,000
  • Best Actor earns a reward of Rs. 5,000 for excellence.
  • Best Actress gets recognition with Rs. 5,000 prize.
  • Best Editor receives a well-deserved Rs. 5,000 award.
  • Best Scriptwriter is rewarded with Rs. 5,000 prize.
  • The Best Cinematographer secures Rs. 5,000 as recognition.
  • 25 best performed shortfilms will be awarded with certificates and mementos by director Sri.Kamal

How can I submit my short film for the festival?

You can submit your short film through the submission link provided on the LK Film Festival website. For any further inquiries, please contact us via the contact number listed on the website.

What are the criteria for submitting a short film?

We invite short films from Kerala on any theme, made in 2023 or 2024, with a duration of 5 minutes and 30 minutes. Silent films are also welcome. We are happy to accept submissions from students (under 18 years old).

What is the demographic for the competition?

The festival is a Pan-Kerala event. We encourage short film submissions from across Kerala.

How will the films be judged?

The judging process will consist of two stages. After an initial screening, the films will be evaluated by a 5-member jury chaired by director Sri. Kamal.

Where will the award ceremony take place?

The award ceremony will be held at the Gokulam convention centre in Kochi on April 2025, with an esteemed gathering of guests from the Malayalam film industry, politics, media, and the press.

How many awards will be presented?

There will be six award categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Scriptwriter, and Best Cinematographer. Additionally, over 30 well-performed short films will receive certificates and mementos. Other films will receive laurels and media recognition.

Will the awarded films be screened?

Yes, the awarded films will be screened at the Gokulam convention centre Kochi in the presence of guests and an esteemed audience.

Are there any other recognition events during the festival?

Yes, the LK Short Film Festival will also honor a distinguished personality from the Malayalam film industry for their significant contributions to cinema.

What media coverage will be offered at the event?

All participants will receive media and press coverage. Mainstream media outlets will be present to ensure comprehensive media coverage of the event and the participants

How many people are expected to attend the program?

The event is expected to host over 200 attendees, including chief guests, filmmakers, and the audience.

What are the additional benefits for participants?

Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences during the event, as well as take part in a group photo session to reflect on their contributions and celebrate the festival.
